This season is completely different from last year's free style boho. All reflecting a desire for feminine luxuries, last year was all about lace, frills, sequins, colour, shine, wild textures and patterns. This season's look is simple yet elegant, classy, voguish and chic.
Rather than wearing ethnic-look garments embellished with sequins, metallic threading, and beads, this year emerged a more glamorous and sophisticated look. The fabrics and cuts were very flattering for normal ladies, not just for celery-shaped supermodels.
Some of the key features seen this season were:
• Long swing coats, flowing caftan tops, long baby doll tunics, pinafore dresses, opaque tights and leggings, crisp white shirts, high-waisted skinny jeans, wide mannish slouchy trousers, stylish tops made from metallic materials, cross-over style dresses with wide belts worn high on the waists and fur collar cropped jackets;
• Colors: black and white prints, melon and frost pink, dark charcoal and silver gray, monochrome mix, electric blue, purple and red;
• Fabrics: satin, soft silk, fine cotton, georgette and chiffon, winter classic tartan, brocade and jacquard, lurex, lame, taffeta, crepe;
• Prints: bold and bright geometric prints, prints in silver and abstract florals in bold colors;
• Silhouette: high-waisted skirts and pants, volume in skirts and dresses such as bubble and tulip style, large oversized collars plus dresses or skirts, and empire line tunics - either very short or very long (maxis made a huge comeback);
• And accessories such as triple belts worn high on the waist, big bags, boots, fur trims, and silver classic style jewelry
